With greater frequency, PAC and government affairs professionals are responding to questions about independent expenditures as well as the growing attention to political expenditures generally. In particular, “Should we be involved?”  Not an easy question and there’s no “right” answer.  The circumstances are different in every instance.  For public companies the question is particularly challenging. Independent directors are mindful of their obligations to shareholders, especially the appropriate use of corporate assets whether for political purposes or otherwise.
